The shoemaker's boy in Heide is a bronze sculpture created in 1984 by the artist Siegfried J. Assmann. The St. George fountain on Heider Südermarkt was created in 1989 by sculptor Siegfried Assmann. It shows the figure of St. George killing the dragon. Eight relief panels contain depictions of Heider and Dithmarscher history. The fountain is 5 meters high, 4 meters wide and has 3 levels. The dragon lies defenseless on its back with its back arched, its legs stretched up. On its belly stands the brave warrior, confident and victorious, thrusting his long lance into the dragon's open mouth.
