Before Burg had a modern central water supply, public wells like the Bauern-Soot (Farmers' Well) were vital for the population, especially for the farmers (hence the name "Bauern-Soot"). 1839/40: A pump was installed. Its use was regulated: Each person received a key to open the lock on the pump handle. 1910: A new wooden pump handle was acquired. 1922: This was replaced by an iron pump.

A very well-kept beer garden and a great ship-spotting spot right on the Kiel Canal. Those on a bikepacking tour can even stay overnight in a tiny home.

Hello, this is definitely the Hochdonn railway bridge. The Rendsburg High Bridge is located about 45 km further east in Rendsburg. This bridge was built between 1913 and 1920 to replace a swing bridge 12 km further west (Taterpfahl). Parts of this swing bridge were used to cross the Schlei River for the Lindaunis Bridge.

Nice restaurant, but unfortunately only open from 12.00

You should see this impressive piece of steel construction at least once and watch the many trains as they pass over the high bridge like on a toy train!

On my previous ferry trips across the NOK (Brunsbüttel, Fischerhütte, Breiholz, Hochdonn) you can find a restaurant (beer garden) here where it is really worth taking a break. The self-service restaurant has a wide selection of food and drinks. Here you can make yourself comfortable and watch the ships go by. The ferry trip is free - like all other ferries on the NOK.

Great, very well-kept beer garden right on the NOK and Hohenhörn ferry station. Definitely worth a stop.
