The Voie Verte du Canal du Centre, located just outside Paray-le-Monial, offers a scenic and relaxing experience in the heart of the Burgundy region. Along the way, you will enjoy a well-maintained greenway that runs alongside the historic Canal du Centre, allowing you to ride on flat and easy terrain. It is the perfect complement to any hike.

The canal is a water bridge over the Loire. The structure is fascinating because of its rarity. At the same time, it is a pedestrian and cyclist crossing that offers a beautiful view.

The relics of Saint Claude la Colombière, spiritual director of Saint Marguerite-Marie, are venerated in the Chapelle de La Colombière. It houses the relics of Blessed Claude La Colombière (canonized by Pope John Paul II on May 31, 1992), who was St. Margaret-Marie's confidante and supporter in her mission. The Byzantine-inspired chapel, simple from the outside, is enriched inside by mosaics, stained glass windows, carved and painted capitals and sculptures that provide a lavish decoration. In 2012 the chapel was included in the register of historical monuments.

The Basilica of Paray-le-Monial, a Kluniac site, is one of the finest examples of Romanesque art in Burgundy. It is considered a “scaled-down model” of Cluny Abbey. The balance of its proportions and its racy elegance are particularly evident in the gradation of the headboard. The extreme elegance of the recently restored north portal, decorated with motifs inspired by Muslim art, can be admired.
