Sayn Castle originated as a medieval fortified manor and is closely linked to the eventful history of the Counts and Princes of Sayn and Sayn-Wittgenstein. In the 19th century, it was remodeled in the Neo-Gothic style by Prince Ludwig Adolph Friedrich and his wife Leonilla. After suffering severe war damage in the 20th century, it was rebuilt and is now owned by Alexander, Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn. Today, the castle welcomes visitors with exhibitions on the family history, princely salons, a restaurant, and the adjacent castle park with its butterfly garden. Turntable and fishing cross at the Swan Pond. From here, you can either continue up the Aubach Valley, return to the Swan Pond, and head towards the Braunsburg Hut, or take the path up to the Dreiwetter Hut.

A perfect place for a rest. Children will find plenty of play equipment here, all in perfect condition.

Always worth a trip. They've created something wonderful for the region up there.

The shelter on the Butterpfad with a great view of the Völkerwiesenbach valley. There is a wildlife enclosure nearby that is very busy at weekends.

Unfortunately, the wide path behind the hut, which leads up the mountain to the ruins, is currently not accessible. (January 26, 2015) Otherwise, it is very convenient from both directions and offers space for many people.

Garbage can, windshield, roof and great view. Everything is there. If you go straight up the Auchbachtal, you will come to Braunsburg. (Matching the Braunsburg Hut)
