A historic square with a large oak tree

This place is called the so-called Chancellor's Corner. It is named after Konrad Adenauer, who traveled the railway branch line here during his visit in 1957. The railway line has since been dismantled and is now a great cycle path 👍

This former collection of the seat of the Electorate of the Palatinate official was first mentioned in documents in 1721. During the French Revolution, the ownership situation changed with the nationalization of church property. From 1822, the Protestant church acquired the property in order to build a school on it for 71 years (until 1893). It was then taken over by the civil parish. Today the building is the seat of the Klein winery and the childhood home of Nierstein wine queen Nathalie Klein (2016/17).

A sandstone monument is intended to commemorate those who fell in 1870/71 and was probably erected in 1880.

The former winery of the Barons von Heyl zu Herrnsheim was built around 1574 and expanded in the 17th century. The complex probably dates back to an earlier monastery complex. The name Mathildenhof only came into being in the 20th century. In 2003, the building complex was listed as a historical monument.
