It's very impressive to go in there on the big Aare boat.

It is interesting to take a break and watch how the ships are raised from the Aare in the lock to the level of Lake Biel.

It's interesting to watch when a ship is being locked through. The ship lock attached to the Port regulating weir enables shipping between Solothurn and the Jura lakes. The ship lock is located on the right bank of the Nidau-Büren canal. It is 11.5 meters wide and has a usable length of 52 meters. Cute trail. Always a nice starting point and soft trails, but still watch out for stones and roots.
