The old train station building in Meisenheim is not just beautiful to look at. A trolley route also runs along here, which also accompanies the route of the Nahe-Glan high-altitude tour between Meisenheim and Odernheim am Glan. The Jewish community in Meisenheim initially had a prayer room. Finally, in 1808, a synagogue was built in Lauergasse, which had become too small for the growing community in the mid-19th century. Therefore, in 1860, the Jewish community decided to build a new synagogue on the urban Bleiche, today's Saarstrasse. The ceremonial inauguration took place on August 17, 1866. During the November pogrom of 1938, the synagogue was demolished, the doors, windows and large parts of the gallery were smashed. The two towers were demolished in 1940 to take back the conspicuous appearance. The Meisenheim synagogue's supporting and support association, founded in 1985, acquired the synagogue in 1986 and began the restoration.
