🌍 Mülheim an der Mosel and Lieser are located in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the Middle Moselle region, about 35 to 40 kilometers northeast of Trier. Geographically, the Moselle River forms the border between two low mountain ranges here: Mülheim lies on the side belonging to the Hunsrück, while Lieser is on the opposite side at the foot of the vineyards, beyond which the hinterland begins.

🚲 The Moselle Cycle Path near Mülheim an der Mosel is one of the flattest and most relaxing sections of the entire route. Because the town lies in a wide valley, you have plenty of space and excellent views of both sides of the river.

Landshut Castle is the ruins of a hilltop castle. It was built at the end of the 13th century by Heinrich von Finstingen, Archbishop of Trier. Today, it features an external elevator. The castle's renovation is still underway. The keep can be climbed. For entry, a ticket must be purchased from the vending machine in the castle courtyard (€1). Only accessible during the castle restaurant's opening hours.

Vineyards and beautiful hiking trails

Puricelli Beach in Lieser on the Moselle is a picturesque area on the grounds of Schloss Lieser, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the Moselle in a relaxed atmosphere. Schloss Lieser is also home to the Puricelli Restaurant, named after the founding Puricelli family. The restaurant impresses with its historic ambience with high cross-vaulted ceilings, wooden floors and chandeliers, as well as impressive views of the garden and the Moselle. The Lieser is a river about 74 kilometers long that rises in the Eifel and flows into the Moselle near the municipality of Lieser.

A very beautiful little town, both in summer and winter. Beautiful half-timbered houses, narrow streets, the opportunity to take a boat trip on the Moselle, and hike to the castle ruins. There's no chance of getting bored here.

The last remaining city gate is a must-see on any tour.
