9月 7, 2024, Dreimühlen Waterfall
The so-called Dreimühlen waterfall is also known as the Nohn waterfall. The name Nohn waterfall comes from the waterfall's proximity to the town of Nohn. The houses on the outskirts of Nohn are only a few hundred meters above the waterfall. Most people talk about the Dreimühlen waterfall, however. The name Dreimühlen comes from a former castle called Dreimühlen. Today, however, only the remains of the walls are said to remain. We looked for the former castle on our trip, but couldn't find anything of it. The waterfall in the Eifel is located between the towns of Üxheim, Kerpen and Nohn. Although the other large towns in the Eifel are not located here, many visitors come here. Some of them travel especially to visit the waterfall. The Dreimühlen waterfall is one of the most visited Eifel attractions. Almost every holidaymaker in the area comes to the waterfall at least once during their Eifel vacation. In addition, many day tourists travel from outside, making it the most visited waterfall in the Eifel. They all want to see the unique natural wonder.

9月 7, 2024, Burg Kerpen
The exact origins of Kerpen Castle are shrouded in the mists of history. It is considered very likely that its builder was Sigibertus de Kerpene, first mentioned in documents in 1136, or his son Heinrich I (1142–1177). However, an exact construction date cannot yet be given.

10月 10, 2023, St. Stephan and St. Sebastian Chapel (Kerpen)
St. Stephan and St. Sebastian is a Roman Catholic branch church in the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Kerpen (Eifel). It belongs to the parish community of Üxheim, Nohn, Oberehe, Walsdorf and Niederehe of the Vulkaneifel deanery. The church from the 16th century is listed as an individual monument. After his marriage to Margaretha von Sombreff in 1506, Count Dietrich IV of Manderscheid-Schleiden had a chapel built on the slope southeast of his Kerpen Castle, which was also intended to serve as a village church. The church was the successor to another castle chapel, as there were castle chaplains in Kerpen as early as the 13th century. It was dedicated to Saints Stephen and Sebastian. Although it was probably renovated in 1645, the small sacred building was spared destruction by the troops of Louis XIV during the War of the Palatinate Succession - in contrast to the Kerpen castle complex. Renovated and partially redesigned again in 1903 and most recently in 1975/76

Delicious cakes and seasonal cuisine, often full when the weather is nice and the service is then overloaded = long waiting times.

5月 27, 2022, Burg Kerpen
Kerpen Castle towers imposingly over the town of the same name. The castle is a so-called spur castle on a dolomite spur at 500 m above sea level. NHN. The exact year of construction cannot be determined. However, the castle also had prominent owners in modern times: From 1907 to 1911, Kerpen Castle was owned by Clemens Manstein. In 1911 the Eifel painter Fritz von Wille von Clemens Manstein bought the castle and had urgent security and repair work carried out. When the artist died in 1941, he was buried on the hill behind the castle. In the same year, the DEMAG company bought the castle to use as a training center. In the 1950s, the company carried out further security, conversion and expansion measures. From 1969 to 2007, Kerpen Castle was owned by the district of Neuss, which used it as a country school. Then a Dutch family acquired the facility and underwent a major renovation in 2010. Most recently (2016) used as refugee accommodation, the castle was sold to an entrepreneurial family from Bonn in January 2018 and will be used for private residential purposes in the future. Therefore, a visit to the castle is unfortunately no longer possible. Nevertheless, care is taken to preserve the castle and that alone is worth a lot.
