Research in various sources on Ruppichteroth's local history shows that a castle (as defined by the Duden dictionary: "fortified residential and defensive structure of medieval feudal lords") never existed here. The Catholic parish church of St. Severin on Burgstrasse is worth seeing. Its Romanesque west tower, built of rubble masonry as early as the 12th century, is also worth a detour to the Protestant village church, dating from 1683.
