Wilhelmina Canal with its ships and drawbridges

North of Nuenen, in the open landscape, you'll find the mill named after the area in which it stands. The mill is still used to grind grain and is therefore a "living" monument, well worth a visit! Open every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and you're also welcome by appointment! Admission is free.

Mediators "the root of the Mortar"

The Holy Blood Mission Convent was built in 1903 for the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood. The complex consists of a large convent building, a chapel, a convent garden, and various outbuildings. The convent is known for its peaceful location on the edge of Aarle-Rixtel and its impressive neo-Gothic architecture. A large parking lot is located in front, making it an ideal starting point for walks. For many years, the sisters were active in care, education, and missionary work. The grounds have a serene, secluded atmosphere, typical of monastic life in Brabant.

This walk follows the Esperloop, a picturesque stream that winds its way through the Brabant landscape near Beek en Donk. The Esperloop is a tributary of the Aa river and is fed by springwater, keeping the water clear and vibrant. Along the banks, you'll find a small-scale and varied landscape with hedgerows, meadows, and old tree-lined avenues that create a secluded and intimate atmosphere. The area is known for its rich flora and fauna: the stream itself is home to small fish and insects, while butterflies, dragonflies, and songbirds can be seen in the surrounding grasslands and forest edges. In spring and summer, the banks often turn a beautiful green, and countless wild plants bloom. The route combines the tranquility of the stream valleys with beautiful views of open fields and farms. Its small scale gives this landscape a genuine and unspoiled feel, as if time passes more slowly here.

A really surprisingly beautiful walking route close to our house. You cross water several times and a large part is through the grazing area where bulls run free. If you hold on to your dog, there is nothing wrong. It is largely 'high and dry' ground. When we were there, there was nothing marshy.

Difficult route by bike. Maybe better to go by foot

Very cool gravel sector. From the sports fields to the Brabantse Kluis. Nice firm gravel with here and there some larger stones. MTB and gravel bike are perfect here.
