Unfortunately, the terrace is no longer available, it used to be a nice stop to relax with a nice cup of coffee or a soft drink.

Buitenkil is a gully (or wheel or waal), a deep hole created by a dike breach. These holes are so deep that the dike could no longer be closed and was therefore placed around the chamber.

Lithoijen is mentioned for the first time in history in the year 991, when the French king Hugo Capet confirmed the property rights of the Abbey of Saint Remigius in Reims on goods in, among other places, Lithoijen. Here we speak of Litta or Less-Lith, in contrast to Great-Lith, the current Lith. The farm in question was located in Het Groenewoud, between Lith and Lithoijen. Eight late hooves were counted here in 1222. The area then belonged to the 'Kwartier van Maasland' of the 'Meierij van 's-Hertogenbosch. Near the farm, still called "Het Hof", was the old tufa parish church, dedicated to Saint Remigius. This served both Lith and Lithoijen. After 1648 this came into the hands of the Reformed, while after some time the Catholics were allowed to build a barn church on the site of the current village centre. This barn church was replaced by a water management church in 1843, while the old church was demolished. Source and more info: Wikipedia

Great address for a nice lunch or a nice cup of coffee with something delicious. All products come from our own kitchen and are fresh daily. Delicious homemade apple pie. Recommended! Very hospitable welcome.

The eye-catcher of the center of Lithoijen is the former town hall, one of the most beautiful buildings in this village. It was beautifully renovated in 2004. It is not only a beautiful building, the (creation) history is correspondingly. The friendly building dates from 1906. It has a style that is characteristic of that period, a facade with a lot of symmetry and a monumental double staircase to the first floor. That is the first floor of a building above the ground floor or the basement. The tender for the new town hall of the then independent municipality of Lithoijen did not go smoothly. The lowest bidder came with an amount of 4420 guilders, much more than had been budgeted. The local Boerenleenbank did not consider the municipality creditworthy and refused to assist. Municipal secretary G. van der Schans pulled out his wallet. At the same time, the 'goatee' also had his own house built. That is still there, on the Langwijkstraat. In 1939 Lithoijen was added to Lith. The town hall, which had become redundant, became a home.

The Sint-Remigiuskerk is a Roman Catholic church in the Dutch town of Lithoijen. The church is dedicated to Saint Remigius of Reims. In the Middle Ages, Lithoijen belonged to the Monastery of Saint-Remi in Reims. This was the reason that the tuff stone church from the 12th century had Remigius van Reims as patronage. In 1613 the patronage rights passed to the Berne Abbey in Heeswijk and after the Reformation the church fell into Protestant hands. The Catholics were drawn to the churches in the free county of Megen, such as the St. Benedict's Church in Teeffelen. Later they were allowed to build their own barn church and after the French period in the Netherlands, the construction of a water management church followed. The water management church lasted for several decades, after which it was replaced by a neo-Gothic church by Caspar Franssen. For the construction, land next to the rectory was purchased and prepared for construction. The first stone was laid on May 3, 1900, a year later the church was consecrated by Father Van den Berg and consecrated on August 5, 1901 by Bishop Wilhelmus van de Ven. The church is built in bricks as a pseudo-basilica. The apse is closed on three sides and the nave has masonry vaults. The side facade and apse have pointed arch windows with stained glass windows. The church tower stands on the west side and is topped by an octagonal spire between four gables. Elements of the interior of the church largely come from Franssen and Hendrik van der Geld. Franssen is responsible for the design of the pulpit, which was carried out by Van der Geld. Several altars were made by Van der Geld. In addition, there are several statues of Jan Custers in the church. The cemetery is located opposite the church tower. The cemetery is surrounded by a brick wall with various statues and a wrought iron entrance gate. At the two entrances are two sandstone statues. At the entrance to the church tower, there are two statues of bearded saints with mitre. At the southern entrance are statues of Mary with child and a statue of Joseph. The church and cemetery wall with statues were separately designated as national monuments in 2000.
