It is situated in a rather weird place. If you follow my route it will bring you too it. However it took some finding even some locals didn't know about it.

Hook Moor 95.8m P19.3 County of Yorkshire Definitive List Summit

Fairburn Ings nature reserve is managed by the RSPB. It used to be a coal mine but has been transformed over the last 60 years to a haven for wildlife. It's an important breeding and nesting site for water birds. The star species that you may see are Bittern, Willow Tit, Kingfisher, Tree Sparrow and Spoonbill. The visitor centre has information, toilets and a cafe. It's open 10:00 - 17:00 in the summer and 10:00 - 16:00 in the winter.

A little hidden away gem. The wall is by Harry Malkin and I just love his art work. Harry is an ex miner but now his art work shows what the miners went through

The pub is closed 😢

Hidden away a bit but i found it. Very nice coffee and a collections of cakes. Room outside to sit

Ask a local for the history

Pat This little beauty is very well hidden away. I only found it by asking local people and one of those had never seen it and he lived just yards away. A bridge was built and the mural is placed on the side of the bridge wall. Shame it isn't in a more prominent place for people to view especially local people. It was really nice have a chat about the mining days
