The hostel is located on the old pilgrimage route "Viaromea". The route leads from Stade to Rome.

A bit enchanted and neglected, the old customs house is right on the main road and yet it is easily overlooked. "Royal Wechhaus MDCCCXXX” is written on the keystone. It is therefore from 1830 and is a listed building.

The bridge no longer exists. The trail directly along the Fuhse is nevertheless unreservedly recommended.
