Here in the Herrenwald forest, near the Rhine-Weser watershed, at the so-called Neustadt Saddle, the central part of the Upper Hessian Ridge, lies the source of this stream. It still lies within the municipal area of Stadtallendorf, but after just about 300 meters, the stream reaches the Neustadt area and winds its way through, among other places, the Neustadt town center and the village named after it, Wiera, before finally flowing into the Schwalm River in Treysa. The source area is relatively unspectacular: boggy ground and numerous puddles and pools. There is no bubbling spring.

Nice rest area with information about grains etc. and a bicycle repair station.

Memorial for the forced labor camp, later the Münchmühle concentration camp (1940-1945). Little information, but a plaque and lists of victims' names make the place very worthy.

In 1988 a memorial was set up on the site of the former Münchmühle camp.

Up here, near the Emsdorfer Höhe, stands the old oak. From here you have a beautiful view over Stadtallendorf far into the Vogelsberg.

A beautiful, sheltered place surrounded by trees, it is worth taking a break here.
