The present-day Protestant Union Church was built around 1340 as the collegiate church of St. Martin, incorporating elements of an earlier Romanesque structure. Under Count Johannes (1603-1677), it was transformed into a preaching and court church starting in 1669. The church served as the burial place of the Counts and Princes of Nassau. Tombs of rulers, nobility, and commoners commemorate their lives and work in Idstein. Very idyllically situated - but snowed in today

The Protestant Union Church is a church not to be missed. Its interior is decorated with paintings on the ceiling and walls. Truly worth seeing. The rest of the interior, made of Lahn marble, is also remarkable.

The church, built around 1340 using older parts of the building, features a unique ceiling with 38 paintings. In addition, beautiful Lahn marble was used for the columns, altar, arcades, and other elements. It is the burial place of the Princes of Nassau. A visit is definitely worth it!

It is considered one of the most magnificent half-timbered houses in Idstein, particularly because of its richly decorated wood carvings, the striking oriel window, and the curved gable. The inscription on the facade reads (paraphrased): "Under God's protection, Johann Conrad Killing and Anna Margareta Loeberin built this house in 1615."
