8月 23, 2025, Findlingsgarten Fürstenwerder
The boulder garden is part of a larger adventure landscape, which also includes the "History Walk through Fürstenwerder" circular trail and the local history room. It is centrally located and also offers a beautiful view of the Great Lake.

1月 1, 2025, Blankenburg Castle Ruins
In the border region fought over by Brandenburg, Mecklenburg and Pomerania, the von Raven family built this castle in 1250, which fell to the Lords of Blankenburg 30 years later! The keep still stands 24 meters high. I would have loved to climb the tower! But I was still able to take a look at the surroundings with my drone!

2月 28, 2024, Blankenburg Castle Ruins
The castle, a typical border castle, is named after a Uckermark noble family who owned it from the 14th to the 17th century. had in possession, referred to as “Blankenburg”. The castle ruins lie on an artificially created castle hill about 4 m high. The castle hill is approximately rectangular and surrounded by an 8 m wide moat. The partially preserved curtain wall enclosed an area of approx. 36 x 28 m. Remains of a building (gate tower?) protruding from the western curtain wall can still be seen. The high corner tower with a round superstructure is located on the SW corner of the Bering. The keep is also called the Fangelturm.

The von Blankenburg family had to sell the property in Wolfshagen to the baron Otto von Schwerin in 1652 due to financial difficulties. Wolfshagen thus became the ancestral seat of the Counts of Schwerin and gave the place a special cultural character

The fisherman's house and the gardener's house were built in neo-Gothic field stone. Gothic pointed arches made of brick, round windows, rosettes and rounded roofs (so-called plank roofs) are particularly characteristic

In the period from 20,000 to 10,000 AD, northern Europe was covered with an ice sheet up to 3,000 m thick. The glaciers have repeatedly advanced far to the south. The masses of ice were constantly in motion, enclosing debris and boulders that got in their way and transporting them with them. Only where the ice began to thaw at the end of its journey did it spit out its stony cargo. The glaciers transported Scandinavian rock towards Uckermark like a conveyor belt. Anyone who knows how to read the tracks of the stones can still understand this Ice Age journey today. The boulder garden in Fürstenwerder helps the visitor to decipher the heritage of the glaciers. Here you are standing in front of a large block of granite which, according to analyzes by geologists, comes from near Stockholm. Reddish and gray granite, dark, fine-grained basalt, light-colored sandstone - a whole collection of such well-travelled stones adorn the boulder garden. - Created in 2001/2002 - Size of the entire garden approx. 1,000 sqm - 66 boulders were recovered in and around Fürstenwerder. The Niederungsburg, built around 1250 on an island in the house of the von Raben family, was one of the most important Brandenburg fortifications during the border conflicts between Brandenburg, Mecklenburg and Pomerania because of its location on the border. It is documented as early as 1392 that the lords of Blankenburg were obligated to the Margraves of Brandenburg as their liege lords. Due to feuds and robber baron affairs, the Blankenburgers fell out of favor with Elector Frederick II of Brandenburg in 1456, who had Blankenburg Castle conquered. It was only because of the intercession of their friends that the lords of Blankenburg received the fief of their castle again from the elector in return for a promise to stay with Brandenburg forever. During the Thirty Years' War the Blankenburg was destroyed and remained a ruin. In the recent past, the castle wall was renovated and the moat was deepened to such an extent that it now carries water all the time Source: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Blankenburg
