Built between 1200 and 1240, the exact date of construction of this Romanesque fieldstone church on a cruciform floor plan is unknown – Ice Age boulders were used locally. St. Crucis features Gothic-style alterations, including the choir apse in the east and the organ loft. Despite the Slavic name, the town of Ziesar is a newly founded German town (albeit close to a Slavic hill fort).
