From the hiking trail above Oberwald, you have a wonderful view of the railway line and the Rotten. The Goneri, a small mountain stream, also flows into the Rotten here, ensuring that the river slowly but surely grows in size.

The slope here causes the Rotten River to repeatedly form small waterfalls. Always a beautiful sight!

Only a few kilometers long and still quite immodest, the Rotten River is located here, very close to its source on the Rhone Glacier further up. The hiking trail down (or up) to Oberwald runs very close to the river, which is more of a mountain stream here.

If you're lucky, you can watch the Furka Mountain Railway steam train travel over the viaduct.
