I simply loved the beautiful half-timbered houses, so I quickly took two photos and continued my walk through Bad Rodach 👍

A beautiful old half-timbered house that I only looked at briefly to take a few photos😊

Fridolin Hoffmann (1869-1953) opened a shop selling "colonial and hardware goods" here in 1891, which later developed into a department store with a wide range of products. He held numerous honorary positions in Rodach, was a highly respected citizen, founder of Fridolin's (music) band, and chairman of the veterans' association. He then demonstratively resigned from the association. In 1933, when the association was converted into a Nazi association structure, Fridolin Hoffmann had no biological descendants. Instead, he left behind this beautiful house, which he lovingly remodeled throughout his life in every conceivable style. In this way, he created a kind of castle – the "Fridolin House" – true to the English motto "my home is my castle." Just a stone's throw from Bad Rodach's market square, a house on Heldburger Straße boasts a very special history. A man who was once well-known in the small farming town contributed significantly to its design: Fridolin Hoffmann, who died 70 years ago – on September 14, 1953. The fountain dominates the square opposite the town hall.

On the side of the town hall is the carillon, consisting of fifteen bells. These symbolize the 15 districts of Bad Rodach. The carillon symbolizes the unity of the town of Bad Rodach and commemorates the completion of the municipal reform in 1978. This declaration can be found beneath the carillon.

The first documented mention of the town hall dates back to a renovation in 1572. The previous building was destroyed in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War. The two-story, gable-roofed building with a curved gable façade and turret, which was essentially a half-timbered structure, was completed by 1664. The staircase was relocated inside in 1898.
