The castle is mentioned in a document as early as 1389. It was burned down in 1504. The closed four-wing building with corner towers and gate tower was built from 1594 to 1620 on the medieval foundation walls.

Just a few houses and the small church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in a slightly elevated position. Nearby, in Pfaffenkirchen, you can still see the very old St. Stephanus Church. Another highlight is the A94 bridge between Pfaffenkirchen and Frauenornau, not necessarily to the delight of residents.
