Great views across Dedham Vale

It's an ok enough stretch of road although not particularly special. There are many more scenic routes than this fairly anonymous stretch of tarmac.

Dedham Vale is an AONB that covers about 90 sq km crossing the Essex-Suffolk border. The River Stour winds its way through the valley, passing green rolling farmland. John Constable often featured the valley in his paintings, to the extent that the area is known as Constable Country. Some of his Dedham Vale paintings are on display at the V&A Museum in London.

There are a handful of steep hills towards the end, so be prepared for low gears and heavy breathing

Dedham Vale is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that straddles the Essex-Suffolk border. Artist John Constable featured the valley in many of his paintings, so much so that the area is often referred to as Constable Country. You can view some of his Dedham Vale paintings at the V&A Museum in London.

St Peter’s is a distinctive Grade I-listed church that was built in the late 11th century. With a large churchyard backed by fields, the church is a peaceful place. Inside, you can observe a 17th-century oak chest, several 12th-century windows, and an early 17th-century wall painting.

Small stream crossing along a route that links up some challenging off road singletrack sections - slippery in the winter so best to hike-a-bike it.
