The idea behind it was English gardening. The center of the site today is the castle park pond, which is fed by its own spring, the Murrbach, and mainly by an old pipe from the Losterbach spring. Adjacent to the northern bank is an octagonal wooden pavilion. There are various events, concerts, children's performances and also an open-air cinema. Every two years, the park festival takes place across the entire area, organized by Gemmingen and Stebbach clubs. Not far from the pavilion, on the edge of the path, you will come across a bronze group, the Gänseliesel. It was donated by a Gemmingen citizen. The Unterschloss in Gemmingen in the district of Heilbronn in northern Baden-Württemberg is the last of what were once three castles in the town that were built in the High Middle Ages as early mansions for the Lords of Gemmingen. Until the first half of the 20th century, the castle was associated with extensive property and is still owned by the von Gemmingen family. The Gemminger Unterschloss was the youngest of three high medieval castles in Gemmingen. The middle castle was the oldest and was already owned by Hans von Gemmingen in 1235. It was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and never rebuilt. In its place is today the Rent Office. The upper castle was built around the middle of the 13th century, was no longer inhabited by the von Gemmingen family after 1630 and was sold to the Duchy of Württemberg. The Gemmingen town hall was later built in its place. The lower castle was built around 1274 by Schweiker von Gemmingen, called Velscher. Originally it was a moated castle that was rebuilt several times and whose moat was later filled in. The oldest part of the castle is the hunger tower from the 13th century, which stands a little to the side of the building. The Velscher family line died out in 1552 with Hans von Gemmingen. He handed the castle over to Wolf von Gemmingen († 1555) in 1550. His grandson Wolf Dietrich (1550-1595) had the castle renovated in 1592 in the Renaissance style. The castle's ornate portal, the decorative bay window and the witch's tower with its spiral staircase on the building date from this period. The castle remained in the possession of Wolf Dietrich's descendants for seven generations (stem A, 2nd line Gemmingen/Guttenberg, branch Gemmingen), although ownership was fragmented within the family branch from the end of the 18th century due to the division of inheritance.
