The old town of Neckarsteinach is a true jewel on the Neckar River, characterized by winding alleys, lovingly restored half-timbered houses and historic buildings such as the late Gothic Protestant church and the remains of the city wall.

The railway bridge in Neckargemünd is a special structure with two levels: Deutsche Bahn trains run on the top 🚆, while a safe footpath and cycle path runs below 🚶‍♀️🚴 – ideal for hikers and day-trippers along the Neckarsteig trail.

The Neckar Promenade in Neckarsteinach runs directly along the riverbank 🌊 and offers magnificent views of the Neckar River and the four castles 🏰. With benches, small parks, and cafés, it invites you to linger—ideal for a relaxing stroll or as an introduction to the Neckarsteig trail 🥾.

Along the Neckar River near Neckarsteinach, four castles lie exceptionally close to one another—a true gem for history and nature lovers. These four castles are wonderfully explored on a hike along the Neckarsteig Trail. From here, you have a particularly magnificent view of three of the four castles (the Swallow's Nest is not visible from here).

Here, some of the stones for Heidelberg Castle were quarried and loaded onto Neckar ships. An old quay wall is still visible from the water. It's also very interesting for children. Several information boards

Wild Garlic Avenue in May

A beautiful hike with views of the four Neckarsteinach castles: Schwalbennest, Hinterburg, Mittelburg, and Vorderburg. Afterwards, we continued to the former Hundheim Castle, of which, unfortunately, only a few scattered stones remain.
