The square is located in the heart of the Cadix district and serves as a meeting place for a rapidly developing neighborhood. Designed by PTArchitecten and Sweco as a green, car-free neighborhood square for the Cadix district, Schengenplein is situated on the former parking lot of the old customs building. The square, which extends all the way to the water, features many trees, green spaces, a water playground, benches, and a very spacious pontoon in the Kattendijkdok. This wooden pontoon consists of a large staircase, terraces, and sloping surfaces, providing a pleasant place to relax. The former Ziegler warehouse has been partially preserved and used as a shelter on the square, with a glass wall on the waterfront providing wind protection. The original roof trusses and columns of the hangar have also been reclaimed.

Droogdokkenpark is a unique, 11-hectare green haven with a view of the Scheldt bend. It's a fantastic location to experience the sunset.

De Bosbaar is a great place to stop for a local beer or a hearty snack. What started as a summer pop-up has grown into a popular stopover where you can also enjoy the fire baskets on the terrace on winter Sundays.
