After riding the riverside trail along the Loddon, the Waggon & Horses pub is a perfect place for a well-earned break. The pub offers a spacious back garden right beside the river weirs, ideal for stretching your legs, parking your bike, and enjoying some riverside relaxation. Cyclists will appreciate the easy access from the path, plenty of seating, and a safe area to leave bikes while you grab a drink or snack. The garden features a large, active aviary, adding a lively touch to the stop, and the riverside location provides views of weirs, ducks, and occasional fish, giving a calming backdrop to your rest. The pub serves hearty food and drinks, making it an excellent choice for lunch, a snack, or just a coffee break mid-ride. Its position at the end of this trail section also makes it a natural checkpoint or turnaround spot before heading back along the Loddon paths.

Now do breakfast (sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, hash brown) wrap for £7.00. Unfortunately, I didn't see it until I'd ordered my bacon and sausage bap!!! Did get a staff (20%) discount on bulk buying (16) pies, though!!

Good pub to stop for refreshments

A beautiful trail that will take you from the little bridge crossing the Old River to the bridge over the Loddon River. Along the way, you will pass between two of the lakes in Charvil Country Park and through several open fields where, if you're lucky, you might even see horses grazing.

Next to Dinton Pastures, we can enjoy this small museum that reflects Berkshire's significant contribution to aviation. Additionally, you can view unique aircraft, such as a Miles Martinet or a Miles Student. For more information, you can visit: https://museumofberkshireaviation.co.uk/

Waitrose seating (and tables) have been reinstated but no breakfast pies available today. However, the brilliant waitress arranged adequate seating (for 11!) for us inside.

Very good coffee and a bacon and sausage sandwich. They also do a breakfast pie but it takes 25 minutes to cook. So book one in advance 0118 327 1570 or https://www.ruralpieco.co.uk/ Unfortunately, Waitrose have removed their outside seating area. They are now open in the evenings until 21:00 (9pm in old money).

Great place to stop. Sells pies, coffee, pies, beer, pies, cakes, pies, sandwiches, pies. Unfortunately close to the BIA Hub (how annoying to have two superb stop-offs within 400 yards of each other) but it is licensed. At the moment it doesn't have a outside seating area. Take panniers, as you may want take some pies for home consumption.
