A pure steel structure was not an option, as the risk of sparks, particularly in fog, appeared to be too high due to the numerous high-voltage lines in the area. For this reason, the line operator rejected steel as a material, and the choice fell on reinforced concrete as the ideal material for exposed locations such as this.
