Beautiful section of running along a single track through the beautiful fields just outside Wheathampstead. This is particularly beautiful in the spring and summer months, when the farmers fields are filled with crops.

A local landowner once destroyed the original Ayot St Lawrence Church, because it obstructed the view from his home. He had the church rebuilt, with the hope to have it resemble a temple to Apollo.

Interesting rather than spectacular - looks like doric columns were originally fluted but have been rendered at some point. Restoration in hand at present.

Recently the surface has been relayed with gravel making it alot faster

As of today the fields are bone dry, all the crops have died due to the lack of water

Great design on this church. Built-in 1875. Friendly keyholder opened the church for me and pointed out many interesting details. Some good glass, the decorated chancel apse especially fine as is the ceramic chancel arch and mosaic font.

This is a glorious church and very beautiful architecture. Stands out on the Skyline and the clock tower is magnificent
