Had shortish ride - Left just before 4pm, set off near duskand got to the woods it was quiet dark and a challenging in the muddy conditions, however, the tyres did there job well.

Waited till 9am, until most of fog had gone but it was still 3 degrees when I left home - started 3 layers, finished with 2 and a change of gloves.
Encountered dog walkers who wouldn't move off the trail lines , plenty of muddy areas which made riding quite tough , some were quite deep caused local

Picked up on old injury on my right knee as I went to climb, but did it while standing up. I ended completely reduce my pace through whole ride after 4 miles.
I also pulled my groin when I skid/slid the bike on muddy bend at speed , managed to save it instead falling over

Finally got my winter tyre on my rear Forekaster v1 2.2 1st time riding this tyre in the rear, normally I have a maxxis ikon which much faster roller, trade off is gripper tyre , meant I didn't go sideways in the mud and could go faster muddy sections , but lost speed on hardpack / tarmac sections

The windchill of 1 degree made riding conditions challenging even though I had thermals all around and wearing my waterproofs. My overshoes didn't do much in regards to keeping my feet warm especially when I went through a deep puddle.
The muddy slop made traction hard for my rear tyre ,went sideways

Route was flatter than usual and generally uneventful meeting loads of mtb groups going the opposite direction.
Wore my new extreme cold sealkin socks, which kept my feet toasty warm and reasonably dry.
Tried to do a different route behind Willows lakes but decided to turn back and then got attacked
