According to local information, this is one of three mountain altars in Europe - alongside the two winged altars in Annaberg (Saxony) and Gossensaß (South Tyrol). The lower part shows the mining village of Hütten with a tunnel entrance from which a miner is pushing a cart. Above it are several mining saints, including St. Barbara with the chalice. Saint Florian is also depicted, leaning on a red-white-red striped flag with his left hand and pouring water with his right hand on a partially burning miners' hut to put out the fire. The miners' chapel of St. Anna in Hütten was built in 1769/70 on behalf of and at the expense of the Salzburg prince-archbishop Sigismund III Christoph Graf Schrattenbach to replace a demolished previous building after he had purchased the Leogang mines.
