Old railway bridge that was an unexpected site in Essex. There is a car park here if needed.

The Early Purple Orchids flower at the same time as bluebells - end of April/Early May Entrance into the woods is at the bottom south eastern corner and the footpath exits just north of the orchids

Not a highlight as such as in I wouldn't make a special trip to see it, but it's a wide underpass joining Lucy Lane South and North under the A12, which is a decent link from Stanway to Eight Ash Green (the beginning of loads of country lanes).

Old St Mary's Church is a Grade I-listed parish in pretty countryside on the outskirts of West Bergholt. The oldest part of the church dates to the year 1000 but the church was extended and developed during the 14th century. The church was made redundant in the 1970s and survives as a time capsule today.
