The little detour from the classical London Brighton epic ride is worth some stunning views. Can be quite windy though!

This basically the descent road to Brighton. Just be mindful of crossing winds and stay safe.

Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft has an excellent cafe serving delicious cakes

The cafe has re-opened Tuesday to Saturday closing at 4.30pm. Had the coffee and polenta cake - very yummy.

A decent cut through and avoids the A272

This historic town lies on the outskirts of the South Downs National Park. The High Street is narrow and can get quite busy with two-way cars so don’t expect to be able to whizz through. "Hurstpierpoint" is believed to have originated from the Old English words "hyrst" (meaning wooded hill) and "pyrige" (meaning point or ridge).

If you are cycling along Devil's Dyke Road, it's worth a small diversion to this fantastic viewpoint at Devil's Dyke. It's one of the best views in West Sussex, and even more superb as the sun goes down. You'll be treated to a panoramic view of patchwork fields, clusters of woodland and the dramatic edge of the towering South Downs ridge. You'll find the Devil's Dyke pub up here too, which has bike parking stands and benches outside. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a sunset pint.
