The cafe has re-opened Tuesday to Saturday closing at 4.30pm. Had the coffee and polenta cake - very yummy.

The Sussex Ouse Valley Way is a 42-mile (68 km) long-distance footpath that basically follows the course of the River Ouse from its source to the sea. It starts from Lower Beeding near Horsham to the coast at Seaford. It is generally regarded as an easy footpath, as most of the route is flat riverside walking. It is a very scenic journey as it goes through beautiful quintessential English countryside for most of its journey. Here by Upper-Ryelands Bridge on Border Hill Lane, you come across the fantastic structure of the Ouse Valley Viaduct that stretches out across you in all its magnificent structural glory, simply a stunning view.

Nice enough trig pointed hilltop and easy enough to get to with grand views out over the South Downs.

Lewes Castle is a medieval fortress originally known as Bray Castle. Positioned strategically, it commands a prominent location, overseeing the gap in the South Downs shaped by the River Ouse and surrounded by the towns of Lewes and Cliffe. The castle is perched on a man-made mound located just north of Lewes' high street, crafted from locally sourced limestone and flint blocks.

East Sussex's historic county town, Lewes is a lovely place to explore. There are many interesting old buildings, from the 16th-century timber-framed Anne of Cleves House to the impressive Lewes Castle, and many quirky boutiques, pubs and eateries. There are plenty of excellent walking options in the surrounding countryside, from river rambles along the Ouse to more hilly affairs on the South Downs.

The Church is a fine Grade I listed building and one of the largest in the area, with the original building completed in about 1230.
