If the tunnel is too scary for you, you can easily go over it. A hiking trail leads through the forest to the road, and at the Felsenaubrücke bridge you'll descend back to the riverbank.

Even though the path along the riverbank is closed to bicycles, it's perfectly doable during the week if you show a lot of respect for the few walkers you encounter.

The Aare Tunnel is the shortest connection between the start and end points of the Aare loop, and it is frequently used by swimmers. Thanks to the Aare Tunnel, you can quickly return to the starting point and swim the loop several times.

The oldest surviving wooden bridge in the Canton of Bern (1535). Built entirely in the style of the covered wooden bridges common in Bern and Fribourg. Right next to it: Restaurant Neubrück with a garden terrace and good food.

Reichenbach Castle with its extensive French garden and beautiful water feature. It was built in the 17th century for the founder of the Bernese postal system. The adjacent orangery, built somewhat later, now houses a restaurant.

The restaurant near the bridge is supposed to be highly recommended.

Interesting for a detour, whether on foot or by bike.

The Felsenau power plant is a river power plant on the Aare in the Swiss federal city of Bern. The turbine house is located in the northern district of Felsenau, not far from the Felsenau brewery, and is operated by Energie Wasser Bern. The water inlet is at the Engehalde weir on the Vorderen Engehalde, where the Aare is dammed. The water is directed to the turbines under the narrow peninsula. (cit. Wikipedia)
