The eventful history of the Old Brewery in Eisenach is closely linked to the Wartburg Castle and its region. The historical relationship between the two monuments is multifaceted: before the brewery was founded, Wartburg beer was brewed directly at the castle. Later, the brewing water was piped via a kilometer-long aqueduct from the Wartburg Castle to the brewery at the foot of the mountain. Eisenach station is now officially known as Eisenach Hauptbahnhof (Main Station). The station's signs were replaced at the end of November 2024. The city of Eisenach initiated the renaming to more clearly emphasize the city's supra-regional importance as an ICE stop in the timetable.
