Feldeck Castle was built on behalf of the Hersfeld monastery and was initially managed by the Lords of Frankenstein, like the other castles in the region. In 1622, the castle passed to the Butlar family, who have lived there ever since - interrupted only by a forced expropriation during the GDR era.

Hiking hut on the Emberg with a wonderful view of the Feldatal and the Thuringian Forest. 500 m above sea level A lovely place where you can stop and enjoy the beautiful view. You can also have a nice snack here, as there are enough tables and benches. The hut is only opened on special occasions.

Dermbach had a station on the Feldabahn (Dorndorf-Kaltennordheim). The line was closed in 2003 and the tracks were dismantled in 2008. The Feldabahn, whose route forms the basis for today's cycle path, had a predecessor that was built in 1878-1880. The first meter-gauge railway in Germany was built in the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar and was only replaced in 1934 by the standard-gauge line of the "later Feldabahn". The standard-gauge Feldabahn from Dorndorf to Kaltennordheim was in operation until 1997. After that, only special trips took place. The expansion to a cycle path was carried out in sections and lasted from 2012 (opening of the Fischbach - Kaltennordheim section) to 2017 (Zella - Diedorf section).
