Opened on 1st May 1815, the Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal includes 17 locks and connects the canal with the River Nene in Northampton.

Great gravel path, perfect place to bring the kids for a bike ride

Nice place to stop and re fue, some wire sculptures and picnic area.

Beautiful bridge north of Gayton Junction, used by horse to cross the canal without releasing the tow rope on the canal boat

easy walking whatever the weather

Nicely updated gravel paths run between the fishing lakes and form part of the updated walking and cycles paths of Upton Country Park.

look out for the field of ponies to the right, if you're lucky you may just see the latest members of the herd. On a hot day you'll see the little ones lounging around.

Look out for the small seating area under the trees and join the local sculptures for a picnic. You may even be lucky enough to find the small drawbridge down so you can visit the opposite bank of the the canal for a while.

This continues for many many miles and although rather bumpy in places it is, as you would expect, really flat. Surprisingly hard going along the less than smooth more rural parts of the canal.
