Houghton Mill National Trust cafe. Outside seating NO toilets, tea expensive, limited menu. OK but better stops in Houghton and St Ives.

The runway has been decommissioned so no aircraft are based here, it’s now used as an intelligence base instead.

The Thicket is a narrow, steep bank of Ash and Field Maple woodland. There's a beautiful variety of flora to discover here such as Sweet violet and King Alfred's Cakes, and some wonderful bird species too, including the Green Woodpecker.

Wonderful friendly pub. Slightly pricey but great food.

A beautiful place for a run, just a short distance from St Ives. Houghton Meadows Nature Reserve combines ancient hay meadows with pasture fields. It is especially lovely in the spring and summer when the bright colours of wildflowers adorne the fields.

A mill has stood here for nearly 1000 years. Houghton Mill is the final working watermill on the River Great Ouse. The mill is in the care of the National Trust and is open to the public (entrance fee applies). With its lovely church, green, hall, pretty stream and public house, Broughton is a classic English village. The Crown Inn serves good pub food between Wednesdays and Sundays, perfect for a refuel after a walk in Cambridgeshire's flat countryside.

RAF Wyton is a decommissioned airfield that's today occupied by the Joint Forces Intelligence Group. It was an important site during the Second World War, when it was the home of the Pathfinder Force, squadrons responsible for marking enemy targets using flares to aid the subsequent bombers' accuracy. The base is the official start point for the Pathfinder Long Distance Walk and the annual Pathfinder March. Both follow a 46-mile loop around the Cambridgeshire countryside. The March is held in honour of the memory of the RAF Pathfinder Force and the challenge is for entrants to complete the walk in less than 20 hours.
