5,810 meters of track remain from the Himmelmoor Peat Railway. Built in 1900, it was used to transport peat from the mining area to the peat works on the eastern edge of the moor, operating on constantly changing routes. A highlight in the region. Actually too easy for MTB. But nice to look at and a really different surface under the tires. Unfortunately, the approaches on most tracks from Hamburg West are too boring/easy for MTB/Gravel. So I would recommend a touring bike.

I started from the Schönklinik Bad Bramstedt in December 2022 and ended up there again. Unfortunately I ended Komoot before arrival instead of finishing the break 🙈. That in advance. The butterfly garden - this is a NABU Kisdorfer Wohld project with the aim of creating a near-natural garden with habitats for butterflies and other insects on 3 hectares of land.
