Social Cucona at the Firestation Tarporley

The canal is a 36-mile waterway connecting the Mersey Estuary to the Port of Manchester, and Latchford Locks are a set of locks along this route, particularly in Warrington.

Beautiful tree sculpture. Not the easiest photo op, but defo worth a look.

Nice ice cream stop. A place to park ya bike and rest ya butt on some benches in the sun.

Great Cheshire lanes

A lovely quiet lane making a cut through. Although the signs say road closed, there's an excellent bridleway that connects up two tarmac stretches

Refreshment stop at the Leigh Arms Pub.

Nice place to grab a hot drink and a small bite to eat, some seating (though no toilet).

Paddington Bank is a great spot to sit or stroll on the River Mersey. It's well paved and connects to other trails to lengthen your route.

Just to confirm what Ian said above - don't get caught out! Same friendly service, just a new location. Very satisfied with a recent comprehensive service (approaching a refurbishment!) of my gravel bike. Runs like new again.

Just around the corner from theRing O'Bells. Another lovely pub with a nice atmosphere and a quirky interesting beer garden.

It is a small channel just off the Manchester Ship Canal At Stockton Heath. It is a lock with 3 gates and various manual pulling systems dotted around the site to mechanically open/close the gates. I looked in Emapping Cheshire and an aerial photo of the site in the 70’s shows that the other side of the locks was a waterway that fed into the River Mersey. That section was the Runcorn and Latchford Canal, it is closed off now and vanishes in the mass of undergrowth at the lock section.

Those of you follow Simon on social media will have already seen his stunning Marbury Lady sculpture. The sculpture is inspired by a ghost story associated with the former Marbury Estate. People in the area frequently claim to have seen this ghost, as she haunts the park. The most recent sighting is reported as being last year! Simon has carved many figures from books, movies, myths and legends, but we think this is the first time he has carved a ghost! We had another reason too for wanting to share her story. The Marbury Lady sculpture is carved from a tree that died due to salt poisoning. We wanted to share a little more about it to highlight the issue, and hopefully help prevent unnecessary damage and death to other trees.

Nice little community run cafe on the Whitegate Way. Plenty of outside seating including some under cover.

You can ride underneath the northern side of the bridge to avoid crossing the road!
