Perched on top of a rocky outcrop high above the Cheshire plain, Beeston Castle is one of the most dramatic ruins in the English landscape. The castle was originally built upon the banks and ditches of an Iron Age hillfort. On a clear day you have spectacular views as far afield as the Pennines to the Welsh mountains. Visit and find out about the castle's 4,000-year history and there is even a 40-acre woodland park to explore. Simply a gem of English heritage.

Has the name changed? Are these not the 'cobbles of doom'? This was a much better name.

Beeston Castle is well worth a visit...the climb up the hill is rewarded with great views over the Cheshire Plain

Peaceful cobbled stretch through woodland between Higher Burwardsley and Peckforton. Slippery after rain, especially when leaves are on the ground.

This is a tuff hike to complete in one day unless you are super fit

A lovely route with some spectacular views. We took a few wrong turns, but soon got back on track. Lunch at The Pheasant was delicious!
