The fountain and the large hiking information board are currently dismantled because the kindergarten is being expanded. After the renovations are completed (expected by Easter 2026), the fountain and the hiking information board will be reinstalled here. The fountain is currently located near the community hall.

8月 22, 2025, Unterste-Harbacher-Mühle
The Lower Harbach Mill, located directly on the stream, is now renovated and privately owned and is the oldest mill in Weisel. It was built around 1685 by Peter Meller, who came from a miller family at the Heppenhof Mill. Little waterfall. Very quiet location. If the weather is good, you can take a short break here and cool your feet in the water.

2月 22, 2024, Old Mine Tunnel Entrance
The tunnel was closed with a grille. But that was torn down. Nevertheless, entering the tunnel is PROHIBITED by the mountain police and in accordance with Section 20 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act and Section 24 of the State Conservation Act.

It is always a miracle how nature regenerates itself. A new tree emerges from the apparently dead tree. It comforts me that nature will surely outlast people too.

There are 2 benches with a table at this fountain. All Weisel circular hiking trails start here (https://www.komoot.de/user/2012976026913/collections). There is enough parking space in the parking lot.

Presumably at the beginning of the 19th century, this building was built as a public community bakery outside of the village fortifications at that time. Source: https://www.weiseler-geschichte.de/de/bilder-karten-video/sehenswuerdheiten/gemeindebackhaus/

There is a small biotope behind the linden meadow. The pavilion on the Lindenwiese is a bit "skewed".

11月 9, 2020, Blücher Monument in Weisel
In 1913, when the camp outside Weisel celebrated its centenary on the occasion of Blücher's crossing of the Rhine with the Silesian army on New Year's Eve 1813/14, a monument committee was formed in Weisel, which decided to erect a memorial to commemorate Blücher's achievements in the victory over Napoleon and the sacrifices of the civilian population. Funds were collected throughout the community, and local stonemason Johannes Sipp was commissioned to erect it. The surrounding area was landscaped and supplemented with quartz stones. It was dedicated at a local ceremony shortly after the outbreak of World War I on September 14, 1914. The square and monument have remained largely unchanged to this day. As early as the 19th century, roofing slate was being mined on a large scale in Weisel. Shaft construction was carried out at the Kreuzberg mine. The Kreuzberg mine was the last slate mine on the Middle Rhine. It was closed at the end of November 1980. The headframe was put down and the shaft closed. Today the pit serves as a drinking water reservoir for the neighboring communities of Wollmigart and Ransel. A residential building and various farm buildings still exist on the site of the Kreuzberg mine. https://www.weiseler-geschichte.de/de/bilder-karten-video/sehenswuerdheiten/eckert-und-kreuzberg In November 2017 the novel "Menschenfischer" by Jan Seghers was published by Rowohlt-Verlag. A main setting in this novel is "a dark valley on the Rhine" and the Kreuzberg mine. If you have read the book and walk this way, you will recognize some of the places described in the novel.

As early as the 19th century, roofing slate was being mined on a large scale in Weisel. Tunnel construction was carried out at the Eckert mine. The Eckert mine was later named "Glückauf". At the end of May 1959, operations were closed for economic reasons. Today only the ruins of the former Spalthütte still exist. https://www.weiseler-geschichte.de/de/bilder-karten-video/sehenswuerdheiten/eckert-und-kreuzberg

Linden tree Until 2005 there was a mighty summer lime tree not far from the village. Her age is not exactly known, but the girth and height of approximately 40 meters indicate that she was at least 250 years old. However, it is quite possible that she was much older, because the vernacular says that "linden trees come 300 years, 300 years stand and 300 years pass", that is, they can live up to 1000 years. It is also e.g. in the church or court records it is not known why this tree could have been planted there. However, it is known that the linden tree of the goddess of love Frigga or Freya was sacred. At the beginning of the 20th century, numerous local poets adopted this linden tree, which has since been declared a natural monument, and described it in numerous poems and songs. The linden tree gradually became a symbol of Weisel. It became a popular meeting place for young people. At first it was the couples in love who met in his shadow, later the place around the linden tree became a popular barbecue and leisure area. When a miniature tornado swept across the village of Weisel on the evening of July 27, 2005 and caused great destruction, the beloved linden tree also fell victim to this natural event. The residents of Weisel still stood in disbelief at the place where he had previously stood at night. What remained was a shattered trunk and a tangle of branches and leaves scattered across the entire area. Only a two-meter-high torso still stood, from which a new shoot has grown. 5月 9, 2020, Roman Tumulus
(Quelle: https://www.weiseler-geschichte.de/de/bilder-karten-video/sehenswuerdigkeiten/tumulus/)
