Bike rack next to cafe, ideal place to stop , secure bike and keep in view while getting a cofee and bacon roll!

Signs saying route is closed. Difficult to navigate, there was mud & fallen trees blocking the route. Would not be passable after rain.

Room for about 8 cars

It was just a small Sunday stroll but it was lovely. We parked our car at the garden centre which worth to going in too! There is a big farm shop which is lovely and not too expensive compared to if you want to get a quality product!

This section is more than knee deep in water, looks waist deep further along. Fortunately there's a handy "three sides of a rectangle" alternative route through the trees which is OK.

Not passable due to flooding after heavy rainfall

A gorgeous quite lane through Clumber Park, passing under the estate archway and between established trees and grassy banks.

Sometimes it gets busy here but walkers usually walk on the big wide path, if you're on a bike consider taking the small narrow path nearer to the lakeside for a smoother and less interrupted ride through the park.

After or before the Play Area take a walk all around the lake and read the information boards for some very interesting facts. Keeps the kids occupied :)

Three light bridges on the River Maun. Two routes North, either through Bothamsall village, or parallel to the A614 directly towards Clumber Park.

The church was built in the 12th century. It was rebuilt in the 16th century by the Stanhope family, and then in the 17th century, 1886 and 1925.

Honestly not much to see but may be of interest to Robin Hood fans. Robin Hood's Cave near Ollerton is situated on a bend in the River Maun north of the village it consists of an outcrop of Sherwood Sandstone which Robin Hood reputedly used as one of his many hideaways. The river at this point, and the 'cave' are only a few yards from the route of the King's Highway to York which formed the eastern boundary of Sherwood Forest from the 13th century. This was the main routeway through Sherwood Forest from Nottingham to York. The location would therefore have been a great ambush site.

A surfaced trail network is located in the south of the wood taking in the pond and part of the beech avenue. If you are a more adventurous walker, you may come across the red pond too!

This way is currently closed due to Covid, there is a path to the right to get through instead

Derived from the Saxon 'Coningswath', meaning King's Ford, the old king's road between Blyth and Wellow once passed through here. The delightful crossing of the River Maun would have perhaps been an ideal spot for an ambush for a certain folk hero who stole from the rich and gave to the poor...

A beautiful limestone gorge and world heritage site, Creswell Crags and the caves found here are rich in natural history. As well as the remains of many prehistoric animals, the gorge is also the site of the earliest known remains of modern humans in Britain. One of the caves is named after the legendary Robin Hood, who was often in the region. Today, a nearby visitor centre offers more information and guided walks around the area.
