This is a woodland and wetland reserve with 600m of mainly grass footpaths which create a circular route and can be very muddy during winter. There are lots of tree roots and uneven surfaces across the reserve. Footpaths tend to be narrow. There is one gate onto the reserve at the footpath entrance which is closed from April to July to protect breeding birds.

A small nature reserve on the edge of Saltmarshe, the Saltmarshe Delph is a wetland habitat home to many species of birds and animals. The best time to visit the reserve is from May to September and November to February, as the footpath is closed during the bird breeding season. Head to one of the bird hides and you may be lucky to spot rare birds such as marsh harriers and water rails.

The beautiful Saltmarshe Estate belonged to the same family from 1067 until the 1970s. Today, it is a grade II listed house set in 18 acres of parkland.
