The poetry bench on the ridgeline above Millington is one of several specially commissioned artworks along the Yorkshire Wolds Way. It was created by craftsman Angus Ross as part of the "WANDER - Art along the Yorkshire Wolds Way" project and features a poem by John Wedgwood Clarke.

A steep climb out of Millington for those that enjoy lactic acid :) , but the reward is the view at the top.

St. Margaret's is noted for having a leper's window, or a squint, in the chancel's south wall. These small openings were once believed to allow people with contagious diseases to observe the Eucharist without entering the church.

Very overgrown and difficult to see, this is one of 5 disused and derelict locks between the canal head at Pocklington and Coat's Bridge.

Walbut Bridge carries the road from Melbourne to Allerthorpe, and Walbut Lock is immediately adjacent to the bridge.

Lock just 250m east of Church Bridge where there is some off-road parking. Grade II listed since 1987 and was restored along with Walbut Lock to create another 2 miles of navigable canal.

Carries Church Road which runs from Melbourne to Thornton. Grade II listed since 1987.

Picturesque head of Pocklington Canal with parking, picnic spots and a Pocklington Canal Amenity Society visitor centre. A beautiful rural canal of two halves, the upper reaches of the Pocklington Canal between Canal Head and Melbourne is characterised by un-restored locks, tree lined towpaths, and classic humpbacked bridges. Only the lower reaches of the canal is open to boats, lying in an open landscape of floodplains and meadows, rich in wildlife, and identifiable by its distinctive swing bridges. Once threatened, the canal was saved by the work of local volunteers and campaigners, and is now home to three Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Look out for Church Bridge and Swing Bridge No. 7 on the Pocklington Canal – both recently restored. The Chalkland Way / Minster Way winds above and and to the south of this spectacular dale, affording great views of its characteristic gorse bushes. A must see and on a par with the equally spectacular Horse Dale, although not quite as deep and long.

This is a beautiful rural canal that stretches 9.5 miles (15 km) between East Cottingwith and Canal Head. The canal path is lined with trees and passes by numerous original locks and elegant humpbacked bridges. It's a delightful stretch of walking – truly.

Pocklington is a classic English market town, located just 15 miles (24 km) from the city of York. Pocklington is known for its red-roofed buildings and unusual street names. The town has an array of independent shops and places to eat, and a number of attractions worth checking out. Among the town's treasures lies Burnby Hall Gardens, a horticultural haven often referred to as the 'jewel in Yorkshire's crown' – a mandatory stop for anyone visiting.

Nice Church in Millington, this is a nice area to observe the church as well as take a quiet pit stop in order to get some energy back. Usually a dog bowl for water with dogs but not guaranteed.

Quiet a nice place to go for a walk/hike. Due to being quiet flat great for a more leisurely stroll. Part of trail around the fields is overgrown so small dogs might not have the best time.

Probably my favourite section of the whole trail. Stunning views on this Wold!

Excellent range of lunch and bakery options. I recommend the salmon bagel with a coffee. Open Monday & Thursday to Sunday from 10:30 - 16:00. Closed on Tue & Wed.
