stunning views, very quiet and peaceful walk. would recommend good shoes especially for the downhill spell.

don't go through the farm yard, use the footpath on the left

Beautiful mix of coastal walk and forest oh and a big hill if you fancy it with great views. The town of Arndale is worth a stroll around beautiful clean with a great chippy.

Lovely stretch of the River Lune where you can walk along either bank.

On the way down, south, from Coum Hill is another trig point, this one belonging to Crag Hill. It is just behind the wall that should be on your right. All the way to here, the path has been pretty good, a bit boggy in places, but okay.

Came up straight from the track, pretty good going over the tussocks. Nice trig pointed top but this is not the true summit. The true top is a nearby small pile of stones going east.

Plover Scar Lighthouse, also known as the Abbey Lighthouse, is an active 19th century lighthouse sited at the entrance of the Lune estuary, near Cockersand Abbey. The lighthouse was built in 1847 and is an 8-metre-high white conical stone tower, built on a rock ledge that is uncovered at low tide. With a focal height of 6m above sea level, the light can be seen for six nautical miles.

Cockersand Abbey is a former abbey situated near the mouth of the River Cocker. The abbey was dissolved in 1539 and the only significant part still intact is the vaulted Cockersand Abbey chapter house, which was built in 1230.

The harbour at Glasson originally opened in 1787, following the demise of Lancaster as a port, and was at its height the largest port in the north west, importing cotton, sugar, spices and slaves from Africa and the Indies. Its connection to the Lancaster Canal was important in allowing the distribution of cargo landed at the port into the heart of industrial Lancashire. Glasson is still active today, handling over 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually.

Ease Gill Kirk is a very beautiful gorge around the riverbed of Ease Gill. There are, in fact, two gorges here: the Lower Kirk (downstream) and Upper Kirk (upstream). You've got to love that it seems to have been named after a church. Very fitting.

Crag Hill (682m) is a spell-binder. From next to its trig point, you will have tremendous views of Calf Top (north-east) from the edge of the ridge. A plus is also a very dramatically placed cairn here. It will likely be very windy, but you know it's worth it!

Gragareth at 627m is a large summit plateau; the trig point here is at the highest point of the plateau. It's easy to walk up to it and enjoy the fine views of Ingleborough (unless you are shrouded in mist and fog, like Tom Cruise tends to be before he goes into battle!), obviously in view on the horizon. The trig point can be in a small puddle of water, so you might be unable to rest your heavy pack against it, I am afraid...

An impressive rock face formed at the quarry which is now a nature reserve.

Great views and interesting paths criss cross the crag.

Morecambe Bay is such an impressive coat, with the extensive wraparound views of the coastline and the miles and miles of mudflats with the birdlife really makes it worth a visit.
