Themes to be explored inside include power, transport, textiles, computing and communications.

Love this canal, it is good for a walk, run or even gentle cycle.

Historical landmark on the Bridgewater Canal

Excellent, off road but paved surface - good for bikes, but could be a little smoother in places. Worth it for being clear of traffic for a good few KM.

The Bridgewater Way is a scenic path that runs through Worsley in Greater Manchester, following the historic Bridgewater Canal. The path features beautiful views of the canal, surrounding woodlands and gardens.

Slate Wharf is a well respected housing development close to central Manchester. It's built around one of the old wharfs of the Bridgwater Canal. The long distance Cheshire Ring Canal walk passes here on its 98 mile (158 km) loop of the local canals.

The Roe Green Loopline is a 7.2 kilometre traffic-free walking and cycling route that starts in Monton and runs all the way to the border with Bolton. The council has consistently invested in the loopline over the last ten years creating a very high quality route that is popular with cyclists, school children and dog walkers. Works to the final two stretches of the route between Tynesbank and Mesne Lea School and between Anchor Lane and Mount Skip Lane were completed in summer 2016.

The Bridgewater Canal connects Runcorn, Manchester and Leigh, in North West England. It was commissioned by Francis Egerton, 3rd Duke of Bridgewater, to transport coal from his mines in Worsley to Manchester.

Great place to visit. The membership fees are very reasonable and enable you to bring a visitor along as well.

If you are going to RHS Bridgewater on the Bridgewater Canal make sure you are on the North bank footpath otherwise it's a round trip to the marina to cross over.
