Forests can become very swampy.

A boardwalk is a walking path consisting of planks or wooden plates that are attached to poles or support beams above the ground. You often see them: • in marshy or wet areas, such as forests with marshy areas, dunes or nature reserves, • to ensure that walkers stay dry and do not damage the vulnerable nature, • sometimes in a straight line, sometimes winding (zigzagging) to follow the natural environment.

At a height of 51.6 metres, you can enjoy a 15 ha nature park. Rare fauna and flora provide a relaxing experience. The nature park is accessible all year round. It is car and bicycle free. Parking is possible at the edge of the domain.

At this location you can use the semi-paved parking to park your car. This way you can climb the highest point of the province of Antwerp at walking pace.

After Grasheide became an independent parish in 1905, a church was built from 1908 to 1910, designed by Edward Careels. It is a brick-oriented three-aisled cruciform church with neo-Romanesque style elements. The tower is located on the south side of the choir. Chapel was built in 1905 by local residents. Building materials were leftover stones from the nearby mill house. In the chapel is a 1 meter plaster statue of Mary.

Beerzelberg is remarkable in many ways. The alternation of open spaces with closed forests creates an interesting and attractive ecological and recreational structure. Beerzelberg owes its fame partly to the fact that the current maximum hill height is 51.6 meters above sea level. This makes the area officially the highest point in the province of Antwerp. Natural value The area is located in a local depression (+/- 6m above sea level), where the Wolzakkenleibeek and Krekelbeek (formerly Valkenlaerebeek) come together and continue as Krekelbeek and Verbindingsbeek. These streams are fed by rainfall on Beerzelberg (highest point in the province of Antwerp at 51.6 m above sea level). Because the slope in the area disappears and due to the high supply during heavy rainfall, the area is regularly flooded. This creates a fairly unique situation and the area contains many valuable natural elements.
