In front of the cemetery there are a series of information boards about the war history of Hooglede in general and this German cemetery in particular. To the left of the cemetery, in the parking lot, there is a QR code that leads you to the fictional nurse Ida. From the perspective of a care provider, she tells you a historically substantiated story about the course of the war and the misery she experienced. German Military Cemetery Hooglede From October 1914, German troops occupied the municipality of Hooglede. Many services and facilities were set up there, including a number of cemeteries. After the war, German graves from the area were brought together. Now approximately 8,200 German soldiers rest here. At the back of the cemetery you will find the 'Ehrenhalle', decorated with a large colorful mosaic. The German cemetery in Hooglede is also undergoing a number of adjustments in the run-up to 2014-2018. You will be able to find more information about the cemetery in a new reception pavilion. A walking loop takes you from here to other WWI sites in Hooglede.

The Deutscher Soldatenfriedhof Hooglede is a military cemetery in the Belgian municipality of Hooglede. The cemetery is located in the east of the village center. There are 8,257 fallen German soldiers from the First World War. It is one of the four major German cemeteries in Belgium, the others being in Vladslo, Menen and Langemark.
