This sculpture, titled "The Smallest Cheese Factory in the Country," is by Dadizele artist Willy Van den Bussche (1934-2025). It dates from 2000. Mariënstede, a facility for people with intellectual disabilities, has been making cheese in the small cheese factory in the castle since 1985—with a brief interruption. Ridder Jan is a Gouda made with fresh milk from a local farm... and is (therefore) now recognized as a 100% West Flemish regional product.

Dadizele's town hall was located here from 1923 to 1940 and from 1948 until the merger in 1977. Before World War I, the aldermen's office and town hall were located closer to the basilica, where the 't Torreke estate is now located. It also housed a café with dining and sleeping accommodations. In 1917, the town hall was severely damaged and not rebuilt after the war. Just before the war, the Drie Koningen inn was built on this site, which suffered greatly in 1917. It was rebuilt after the war. In 1923, the town hall was housed there. The café also remained. In the courtyard were two prison cells and a bolletra (court where the ancient game of bowls is played). The Carton-Hoet couple lived there and were caretaker of the town hall. During the German bombardments on May 24, 1940, the damage to the town hall (which can still be seen on the Ledegemstraat side) was minimal. At the start of World War II, the combined town hall and café was no longer permitted by the occupying forces. The town hall moved in 1941 to Plaats 27, next to the entrance to the girls' school. The building quickly proved too small. So it moved again, this time to Kleppestraat 17 in the former municipal school. The Ortskommandatur was housed there for a short time, but in January 1944 it once again became the town hall until 1948. After the war, the municipality purchased this building. In January 1948, the municipal services were able to move in. By then, it was no longer a café. After the merger with Moorslede (1977), there was still a room for a municipal employee and the police. In 2021, the building was thoroughly restored. Only the facade has been preserved in its original state. Today, it houses the music school. Source: information board on site
